MISSION STATEMENT
To educate, train, and inspire our members to achieve the highest quality skills and professionalism necessary to meet the evolving needs of the finishing trades industries.
VISION STATEMENT
The Finishing Trades Institute of Southern New England both delivers and coordinates high quality and flexible training programs to the industry’s workers, in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Western Massachusetts. The training programs anticipate the needs of the industry, particularly those created by new technology and methods, with an increasingly diverse workforce. The Training Centers are committed to managing its resources in a cost-effective manner.
The Finishing Trades Institute promotes continuous learning and certification, including the delivery of apprenticeship programs established in accordance with industry- and government- recognized standards and practices. Its learning philosophy emphasizes a hands-on approach supplemented by appropriate academic support and the integration of health and safety training into the acquisition of technical skills. The focus is to develop workers for the industry who are multi-skilled within their respective trades, professional, and proud of the contribution that they make to the community. The FITSNE’s ultimate criterion for success is the graduation of highly-skilled, productive workers who are employed in the industry and add value to the investment of their employers.
Finishing Trades Institute of Southern New England exsists to serve a number of purposes:
Apprentice development and progression is achieved by partaking in classes such as Health and Safety, Blueprint Reading, Mathematics, and Leadership and Foreperson Training.
With two state of the art training centers, we specialize in complete training for trades such as Painters, Glaziers, Glassworkers, Architectural Metal Workers, Drywall Finishers, and Wallcoverers. Men and women are afforded comprehensive curriculum and unequaled training.
It is impressed upon our members the realization that acquiring vital trade specific skills is necessary in securing and maintaining fair wages, health and pension benefits, and favorable working conditions.
The Finishing Trades Institute’s vision is unparalleled. Our comprehensive training programs are a collaborative effort designed to supply our union contractors and associations the most uniquely qualified workforce, now and into the future.
